Shipbuilding
The earliest European industry on Great Barrier was ship building. In the 1830’s John Gillies built the brig Tryphena. A schooner, the Rory O’Moore was launched in October 1841 and a barque the Stirlingshire was built in the mid 1840’s at Nagle’s Cove.
